🏠 Home of the Week 🏘

Images courtesy of McGrath

This place has everything you'd usually leave the house for. Well, at least those of us in regular homes. A private cinema with a starry ceiling, a karaoke lounge, a heated pool tiled with a Versace Medusa mosaic, a gym and a sauna. The kitchen runs SubZero, Wolf, Miele and Pitt, with marble on nearly every surface. The listing mentions a tea and cigar lounge, though the floorplan just calls it an office. Four of the six bedrooms have an ensuite, which sounds like a dream until you count six bathrooms to clean.

The much-loved 7km Iron Cove loop is back with runners, walkers, families, school teams and dogs all part of the morning. There’ll also be fancy dress and the always-popular Fastest Dog in the Inner West race.

New Openings

Papi’s Birria Tacos Is Back and Now in Marrickville

We first featured Papi’s Birria Tacos back when they were operating from their Haberfield food truck, and we’ve been waiting not-so-patiently for their Marrickville opening since Haberfield closed. They’re now open at Marrickville Metro on Smidmore Street, serving the birria tacos we rate a 10/10, plus nachos, quesadillas, consommé and more. I can’t even tell you how excited I am that they are back in the Inner West. The new churros are honestly some of the best I’ve had.

🕛 Sun – Wed 11am – 9pm, Thu – Sat 11am – 10pm

Oxford Tavern Up for Sale After Long Closure

Petersham’s Oxford Tavern could be headed for a new chapter, with the long-closed pub now listed for sale. The New Canterbury Road venue has been shut since Odd Culture left in 2023, after a run that brought back The Tav’s late-night reputation with frozen drinks, picklebacks, American BBQ and a busy beer garden. The 734sqm site comes with a 3am liquor licence and is being marketed to pub operators, brewers, restaurateurs and developers. Expressions of interest close 23 July 2026.
