5 things to keep kids 5 and under busy!
🏖 Water Play to Escape the Heat: It’s been hot this week and next week will be just as warm. Let the kids cool down at a water play park nearby to the Inner West. Not all water play parks are open at this time of year, so we’ve shared a few that are available all year round.
Darling Harbour: Probably Sydney’s best water play park. Water play open 8am to 6pm. Plenty of shaded areas, toilets and food options. The new section of the playground is great for older kids, but it’s quite hard to keep an eye on your kids when busy due to the design. Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre: 4 pools and an aqua play area that is indoors. Indoor aqua pool open Monday to Sunday 9AM to 8PM. Plenty of shaded areas, toilets and on-site Cafe. See website for entry fees. 17 Zetland Avenue, Zetland
Mary O’Brien Reserve @ Zetland: Water play area open 8am to 6pm every day except Tuesday. Plus 2 playgrounds, BBQ’s, shaded areas and a bike/scooter path. Cafe across the road. Corner Joynton Avenue and Tilford Street, Zetland
Pirrama Park Playground @ Pyrmont: Water play open 8am to 6pm every day except Tuesday. Plus playground, shaded areas, toilets and cafe adjacent to playground. Cafe nearby and public toilets. Pirrama Road, Pyrmont
🚲 Balance Bike Clinic @ Sydney Park Cycling Centre: Kids start on balance bikes and once confident, can move onto pedal bikes. Run by Bikewise and CoS. Interactive class designed to get parents involved. Suitable for children aged 3 to 8 years. Bikes and helmets are provided, or you can BYO. Turn up between 9am to 10:45am and register with the instructors at the Sydney Park Cycling Centre. 🚌 French for Littles: Introduce your little ones to the beauty of French language and discover the joy of learning with your child. There are baby, toddler and preschooler classes. Classes are run in Erskineville Town Hall. View the class schedule and more info here.
🧸 Baby & Toddler Time @ Petersham RSL: Join Messy Makers on Tuesdays for a FREE hour of messy and sensory play. A range of activities are planned and it is suitable for 3+ months. You must be a Petersham RSL member or join on the day. ($5 for 12 months). Pre-bookings required. Tuesdays 11:30 AM to 12:30 AM.
🎦 See a Baby Friendly Movie: Catch a baby friendly movie screening that are tailored to meet the needs of parents and carers. Dendy Newtown runs sessions on Thursday and Friday morning with free admission for kids under 5. Palace Norton St runs sessions 11 AM Thursdays, and Palace Central on Wednesdays at 11 AM. Children under 3 years are free at Palace Cinemas.

🎨Biennial Wilkins Fair Day: It’s back again on Sunday 8 September. 🎭 My Name is Rachel Corrie @ Theatre Redfern: A one-woman play based on the diaries and emails of Rachel Corrie, a young American aid worker with an intense passion for human rights, equality and justice for all. In 2003, she her home and college in Washington, to join the International Solidarity Movement in the Middle East, a group that was protesting the demolition of civilian homes in the Gaza strip.
