Left things to the last minute? Or just trying to fill a few gaps in the schedule? We’ve pulled together a bunch of activities that still have availability (as of publishing) or don’t require a booking. Hopefully this guide gives you some fresh inspiration for the next two weeks.

  • School holidays at the Maritime Museum (all ages) | Dive into a world of wonder at the Maritime Museum these school holidays with exhibitions, vessels, hands-on workshops, themed creative activities, films and more.  It’s a whole day of fun for the whole family! | 9:30 AM to 5 PM | 13 to 27 April

  • Darling Harbour | You can choose from SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo and you can watch the sky come alive with a spectacular fireworks display. There are also plenty of activities happening across the School Holidays. | Darling Harbour/ Darling Quarter

  • Opera House | Has a raft of performances running during the school holidays to entertain the kids, as well as a Comic Book Illustration Workshop. Check out their website for details | Sydney Opera House

  • Broadway Shopping Centre Glebe | Easter holiday craft workshops - Reptile mania, mini donut decorating, bunny ears and more. Bookings essential. See website for details.

  • Other ideas for family fun:

    • Train, Light Rail or Ferry ride. Ferry rides around the Harbour or to Manly are particularly fun for younger kids.

    • Aquarium

    • Wildlife Sydney Zoo or head out of the city Taronga Zoo, Sydney Zoo or Calmsley Hill City Farm.

    • A picnic in one of the great Inner West parks

    • A bike ride eg. along the Glebe foreshore or Cooks River

    • Get out of the Inner West and head to a nearby beach. Trekking over the bridge to the Northern Beaches often means easier parking than the Eastern Suburbs and more beach space.

    • Head to your local swimming pool if weather permits.

    • A city day trip. Circular Quay is always a hit. Visit a museum. Finish off the day at Darling Harbour and visit the Water Play area.

    • Spend the day at Sydney Olympic Park. Great for picnics and getting the scooter or bike out. Learn to surf at Urbnsurf.

    • Head to the movies or IMAX at Darling Harbour.

🥚 The Grounds 2025 Easter Egg Crack
The Grounds of Alexandria's annual Easter Egg Crack event at Linseed House will feature the breaking of a one-ton chocolate egg, music, an appearance by the Easter Bunny, and chocolate to take home. Be quick, tickets sell out.

Free School Holiday Disco offers neon face painting, disco ball dancers, a breakdancing Easter Bunny, and a parents' dance competition with prizes—just show up ready to dance in your 90s-inspired outfits.

🐰 Easter Long Weekend @ The Royal Leichhardt
