The Petersham Bowling Club is closer to delivering a major accessibility upgrade, with construction on a long-awaited accessible ramp set to begin in just eight weeks. The community-owned, proudly pokie-free club has now raised $435,000 toward its $500,000 goal, leaving $65,000 to fully fund the project.
Established in 1896 and pokies-free since 2007, The PBC has built a reputation as a genuinely inclusive Inner West hub, but until now, wheelchair access into the historic building hasnβt been possible. With plans approved and a construction certificate secured, this upgrade will finally open the doors to everyone.
Want to help get it over the line? Buy raffle tickets on Fridays, grab some PBC merch, head along to Sham Fest, or make a donation (every bit of support counts).

π Home of the Week π
This is the house that Tim Tams built. William Arnott, founder of Arnott's Biscuits, commissioned this Federation Queen Anne home in 1901, and it's still standing on a massive 3,790sqm block with a 45-metre frontage. The original hardwood floors, fireplaces, leadlight windows, tessellated tiles and timber detailing are all intact. There are formal rooms, a cigar room, two original stables, and DA-approved plans from an award-winning architect if you want to add a pool and extensions. The dual-entry driveway tells you something about the scale of this place. It was owned by the NSW Government from 1954 (can you believe they paid Β£12,000?) to 2022, where it sold for $7.7 million, but it's back on the market again with an approved DA.

The much-loved Petersham cafΓ© shared the news with heartfelt thanks to locals who made the space feel like a second home, saying itβs time to pause, reset and step into their next chapter. Locals are encouraged to drop by, say hello and enjoy one last visit before the doors close on Sunday 15 February.

Beloved Inner West brewery Wildflower Brewing & Blending has announced it will close its Brompton Street cellar door as it prepares to relocate towards a rural setting. Founder Topher Boehm shared that the decision, driven by family life, sustainability and a desire to return to brewing at a slower, more agricultural pace, means the Marrickville site will close on Sunday, 31 May 2026.
Wildflower will continue releasing beers monthly until then, with plenty of stock already brewed and packaged to carry sales well beyond the closure date. A full calendar of farewell events, collaborations and celebrations is also planned, marking the end of a significant chapter for a respected Inner West brewery, and the beginning of something new.
