Construction on the outdoor pool upgrade at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre kicks off 29 June. FDC Construction, who delivered the Ashfield Aquatic Centre redevelopment, will build a new heated 50m Olympic pool and a 25m multi-use pool with a moveable floor, supporting everything from learn-to-swim and rehab to water polo. The centre draws more than 760,000 visitors a year. Outdoor pools will be closed from 29 June and for all of 2027. Indoor pools, hydrotherapy, swim lessons, the gym and the splash pad in summer remain open.

🏠 Home of the Week 🏘

First offered in nearly 40 years, Gayton is a landmark c1885 Victorian estate and sits on more than 3,000sqm. Soaring 4m ornate ceilings, restored cedar joinery, a grand staircase with stained glass, and formal rooms including a billiard room with its original full-size championship table. Outside: parklike grounds, 14m pool, spa, poolside cabana with cathedral ceiling, elevated tennis court and a six-car garage. The garage alone might be bigger than my home.

INNER WEST COUNCIL

New Return and Earn Baskets Coming to the Inner West

Have Your Say on E-Bikes in the Inner West

Inner West Council is developing an E-bike Strategy and wants community input before 24 June. The strategy will cover designated bike parking, go-slow zones in busy areas and no-go zones where shared e-bikes are prohibited entirely. If you've ever had a shared bike dumped outside your front door, this is your chance to weigh in.
