Racing at Wentworth Park will end almost a year early, with the final meeting locked in for Friday 16 October 2026.

The NSW Government has struck a deal with the Greyhound Breeders, Owners and Trainers Association to bring the exit forward from the original September 2027 lease expiry. After the final meeting, the former 3.9-hectare track will be restored, cleared of racing infrastructure and handed to the City of Sydney. It'll become part of an expanded 14-hectare Wentworth Park, with new sporting fields and open space. Lord Mayor Clover Moore welcomed the news, saying the park will be "back in community's hands even sooner than we expected."
