Happy Shop is Happyfield's smaller, faster sibling on Dalhousie Street, opened last month. If you've ever found yourself waiting in line for a table at Happyfield, then Happy Shop might be for you. It's counter service and a streamlined menu built around breakfast sandwiches, burgers, fries and beignets.

The Le Griddle with bacon and maple sauce for dipping was my fave here. My kid took one bite and then ate three-quarters of it. We also tried the Buffalo Chicken Caesar, Lil Cheese and Chopped Cheese burgers, plus the Happier Fries, which were ridiculously good. Everything tasted fresh and well-executed. We were already too full before the beignets arrived… didn't stop us from eating them though!

It's only open Friday to Monday, which makes it feel like a proper weekend treat for anyone after a solid breakfast or lunch without the sit-down wait.

🏠 Home of the Week 🏘

Image courtesy of Belle Property Strathfield

This Federation home sits on a massive 1,163sqm block, which would hold 4 to 10 homes in other parts of the Inner West. They've kept all the original character, fireplaces, leadlight windows, ornate cornices, but updated everything else to be contemporary. The living areas have skylights bringing in loads of natural light, the kitchen is modern stone with a walk-in pantry, and there are six generous bedrooms, including a spacious main suite. Outside, there's a wraparound verandah, landscaped gardens and a north-facing pool. The block gives you serious privacy, but you're still within walking distance of Burwood Station.
