Keep Kids Busy Guide

🛝 Park Picnic @ Strathfield Park: There is a lot on offer at this park. You’ve got a large playground inclusive of all ability’s, kid’s bike track, sporting fields, basketball, netball and volleyball courts, undercover areas, BBQ areas and picnic facilities, rotunda, public toilets and change facilities. The playground has just had additional equipment added and toilets are nearby. If you get hungry or want a coffee The RedRoof Cafe has got you covered. You can get there by bus or car. Street parking available nearby.

🎨 Young Creatives: For the Love of Art (ages 13 to 24): Join artist and writer Artemisia Cornett for a workshop that helps you express your thoughts and feelings about art. You'll learn how to look at exhibitions and individual artworks to create meaningful interpretations and feedback. This workshop will guide you in turning your observations into a unique writing style that you can use in different professional and academic settings. | Saturday 23 November | 11 AM to 1 PM - Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Camperdown

🌿 NAISDA Torres Strait Islander Culture Workshop (8+): Discover the richness of Torres Strait Islander culture as you explore the deep connection between people, stories, water, and land through joyful movement, language and song. 🪟 Young Creatives: Through the Looking Glass (ages 12 to 16): Create your own stained-glass-inspired art. Starts outside with some fun nature drawings. 🧸 Play: A Building Block of Child Development: Support your child's early play development at this workshop exploring toys, activities, and strategies. 🏖️ Water Play to Escape the Heat: It’s going to be warm this weekend through to early next week. Let the kids cool down at a water play park in or nearby to the Inner West. Here is a sample of some of the great places to cool off…

  •  Darling Harbour: Probably Sydney’s best water play park. Water play open 8am to 6pm. Plenty of shaded areas, toilets and food options. The new section of the playground is great for older kids, but it’s quite hard to keep an eye on your kids when busy due to the design. Tumbalong Park, Darling Quarter, 1 – 25 harbour Street, Darling Harbour

  • Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre: 4 pools and an aqua play area that is indoors. Indoor aqua pool open Monday to Sunday 9AM to 8PM. Plenty of shaded areas, toilets and on-site Cafe. See website for entry fees. 17 Zetland Avenue, Zetland

  • Mary O’Brien Reserve @ Zetland: Water play area open 8am to 6pm every day except Tuesday. Plus 2 playgrounds, BBQ’s, shaded areas and a bike/scooter path. Cafe across the road. Corner Joynton Avenue and Tilford Street, Zetland
