🎨 25th Biennale of Sydney: Rememory 🌏

Image: Jordan Munns, Courtesy of Phoenix Central Park

One of the world’s leading contemporary art events returns this autumn, with the 25th Biennale of Sydney – Rememory running from 14 March to 14 June 2026. Curated by Hoor Al Qasimi, this free city-wide exhibition brings together 83 artists and collectives exploring how memory, history and identity shape our world.

Several venues are close to the Inner West, including White Bay Power Station in Rozelle, where visitors can experience large-scale installations, performances, food markets and the Friday Art After Dark series. Other participating sites include the Art Gallery of NSW, Chau Chak Wing Museum, Campbelltown Arts Centre and Parramatta Artists’ Studio, making it easy to explore art across Sydney over three months. A heritage double-decker bus service will also run between the Queen Victoria Building and White Bay Power Station on weekends and public holidays, making it easy to travel between the city and the Biennale site.

🏠 Home of the Week 🏘

Designed in 1888 by Balmain Town Hall architect Edward Buchanan, Oliveto is a landmark Victorian Italianate residence fronting Birchgrove Park. Reimagined in 2025 by Benn + Penna, with interiors by Cassandra Walker Design, the three-storey home pairs heritage grandeur with an impeccable renovation. A double-height atrium floods the living spaces with light, while herringbone oak floors, marble fireplaces and a Carrara marble kitchen with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances set the tone inside. A heated pool and landscaped garden round things out. A 2026 Grand Designs Awards finalist. Firmly out of my budget, but a girl can dream.
