Step into MMC Slice Shoppe and you’re in an ’80s/90s time warp – think red Solo cups, retro beats, and a wall of nostalgic pop culture. A spin-off from Bexley North’s My Mother’s Cousin, this slice shop is already being called one of Sydney’s best New York-style pizza spots.

Alongside 18-inch pies by the slice and their legendary hot-honey pepperoni, don’t skip the fries with house gravy and parmesan. They’re rich, perfectly seasoned, and seriously delicious – easily some of the best gravy fries around. The service is warm and welcoming, so put this one high on your must-visit list.

🏡 Home of the Week 🏘

Each week (or thereabouts) we spotlight one interesting local listing — whether it’s jaw-droppingly luxe, a federation beauty, or full of fixer-upper charm. It’s a fun little peek into Inner West real estate - no judgment, just curiosity.

One of my favourite hobbies is looking at homes I’ll never be able to afford. If it’s yours too, you’re in the right place.

83 Shaftesbury Road, Burwood

Designed by famed architect Sir John Sulman around 1905, this heritage-listed Federation estate is grand in scale and detail, from its decorative timberwork and leadlight windows to the sweeping 1,879m² block with dual street frontages. A buyer with vision (and probably a Bridgerton-level budget) could make it truly shine.

There’s a morning room and a library on the floor plan. Perfect for reading the paper, penning letters to suitors, or sipping your flat white in a sunbeam. Meanwhile, I’m over here rearranging furniture to make space for a laundry basket.
